What is Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a system for diagnosing and treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. It focuses on the body’s structure and function, based on the philosophy that a person’s well-being depends on the interaction of the skeleton, muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues.

Osteopaths are highly trained allied healthcare professionals who specialize in the Musculoskeletal system and must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council

Osteopathy likes to look at the body as a whole and does not look at the body as separate, disjointed areas. The Osteopath's philosophy is that everything is connected and can play a role in how pain or injury presents. 'With viewing the body as an interconnected system where musculoskeletal health plays a pivotal role in overall well-being an Osteopath is a highly skilled practitioner helping restore musculoskeletal balance,  reduce pain and aid your recovery.

What is treatment like?

Osteopathy is known for its hands-on approach to diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal issues, using techniques like joint mobilisation and soft tissue manipulation. These methods work to improve mobility, ease pain, and support the body’s natural healing abilities.

It involves a range of manual techniques, such as joint mobilisation, soft tissue massage, myofascial release, and stretching, all tailored to address areas of tension or restriction that may be causing discomfort or limiting movement.

The goal to support the body’s natural healing process without relying on medication or invasive procedures, using movement-based techniques. By leading patients through targeted exercises and stretches, osteopaths empower people to take an active role in their recovery and overall health management.
