About

My name is Dr Nicholas Lam

I am Sports and Massage Therapist and Sport Scientist. I help active individuals recover from injury, reduce pain, and return to movement through hands-on treatment, sports massage, and structured rehabilitation. With a background in sports therapy, strength and conditioning, and sport science, I combine practical treatment with evidence-based rehabilitation to support both recovery and long-term performance. I  offer Sports Massage, Sports Therapy and Personal Training.  I will be available for appointments on Monday, Wednesday  afternoon/evenings and Saturdays.

Nicholas completed his Sports Therapy training in Hong Kong before moving to Edinburgh, where he later completed an MSc in Strength and Conditioning and a PhD at the University of Edinburgh. His academic background in mental fatigue and performance, including applied work with British Orienteering Performance and Talent Squads, further supports his practical work in rehabilitation and performance support.


He has worked with the Hong Kong Women’s National Field Hockey Team and the Hong Kong National Cricket Team, and has also provided medical and therapy support at major sporting events across rugby, golf, tennis, and football, including the Hong Kong Sevens, Asia Rugby Sevens Series, Super Rugby Showcase, UBS Hong Kong Open, the Asian Tour’s Mercuries Taiwan Masters, HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens, and ATF and ITF junior international tennis tournaments.


Alongside clinical practice, he has experience in strength and conditioning and applied sport settings, including work as a Voluntary Performance Coach at the University of Edinburgh, supporting training delivery across university sport and elite performance squads. His approach combines hands-on treatment, massage therapy, rehabilitation, and performance-focused thinking to help clients recover well, move confidently, and stay active long term.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Sport (Performance Psychophysiology)

  •  MSc in Strength and Conditioning

  •  BSocSc (Hons) in Sports and Recreation Management, with a major in Sports.​

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)​

  • NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT)

  • International Diploma in Myofascial Cupping Therapy

  • Member of The Society of Sports Therapists (MSST)

  • Member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
